Summer has been worth the wait – A two week Sunday Post

As the weather for half term was so good and we were having such a good time down in Cornwall we stayed for the whole week and I didn’t bring my computer. I did get loads of reading done however.

I have also been having some fun trying out drawing comic after reading Linda Barry’s Books and here you can follow my progress on my new Instagram account.

Books Finished This Week - playlist script

Career of Evil (Cormoran Strike, #3)

by Robert Galbraith

Rating: 4 out of 5.

A bit all over the place at times, full of twists and turns but what makes it special is the dynamic between the two main characters. I just cant wait to read the next one.

Lethal White (Cormoran Strike #4)

by Robert Galbraith

Rating: 5 out of 5.

I think this is the best one in the series so far. Robin coping with her PTSD from the traumas of the previous book was especially well done. This is a big book, but I still demolished it in a few days. I can’t wait to get my hands on the next instalment now.

Making Comics

by Lynda Barry

Rating: 5 out of 5.

I After reading Syllabus by the same author this handwritten book is full of exercises and inspiration for any aspiring comic artist. I have even started up an Instagram account ( just to share my progress if you’r interested.

Finding the Mother Tree

by Suzanne Simard

Rating: 3.5 out of 5.

I have been reading a lot of books about trees lately, both fiction and non fiction and this is it’s culmination. Part memoir, part nature book about the discovery that trees and other plants communicate via the fungal network from the scientist who battled the forestry establishment and eventually changed everything. I did get a little bored of it near the end though.

  1. Not taking a computer with you on a trip is a good idea, I never take mine 🙂

I love trees but don’t remember ever reading a book about them. I’ll check that book out.

I hope you have a great week!

  2. I looked at your Instagram posts — I thought your artwork is lovely. I wish I could sketch or paint half as well! Looks like the books were really all that good. Thanks for sharing! 🙂
