And it Just Keeps on Raining – Sunday Post

The weather has continued to be wet and I have been equally lazy, I did find a small window to mow the laws however as the dandelion clocks were starting to take over. On the plus side the lockdown is easing again tomorrow and cafe’s and restaurants will be open again, I don’t know where to try first.

Books Finished This Week - playlist script

Reading wise I have finished three books and they were all great. I am utterly addicted to the Cormoran strike series and Taylor Jenkins Reid and Caitlin Moran’s new books do not disappoint, like meeting up with old friends.

The Silkworm

Robert Galbraith

Rating: 4.5 out of 5.

Another really engaging whodunit. I had an inkling who the culprit was in the beginning but it was very enjoyable ride seeing how it all played out. Again the the relationship between Robin and her boss are the heart and soul of the book. I can’t wait for the next one.

Malibu Rising

by Taylor Jenkins Reid

Rating: 4.5 out of 5.

Nina Riva has been having an end of the summer party for years. This year it all gets way out of hand. This book follows all the guests, gatecrashers but focuses on the four hosts, two girls and two guys, all with the same famous father.
I thought this was going to be about four entitled rich kids but no, that’s not it at all but I don’t want to give away the plot as watching it unfold is part of the magic. It took me a while to get invested by I finished the last half of the book in an afternoon.

More Than a Woman

Caitlin Moran

Rating: 4 out of 5.

I love how she doesn’t pull any punches or hide anything about herself. It reads like a chatty letter from a friend who always makes you laugh. She is fearless, bold, uncompromising and hilarious.

  1. We’ve had beautiful weather all last week, it is supposed to start raining today and rain most of the week, so perhaps we are doing a switcheroo with you.

I really enjoyed The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo, so I’m happy to see your thoughts about Taylor Jenkins Reid’s new book. I think I will look for Malibu Rising. Reid has a way of taking what you think about people and turning it on its ear.

    Have a great week!

    1. She is a very accomplished writer, and can write adult fiction really well. (not that I ever read her adult fiction under her own name but I am going to when I get round to it).

  3. We’re having a rainy weekend too. Although they said the whole weekend would be a washout, and actually Saturday wasn’t bad at all. So far today, Sunday, it is pretty much pouring down all day. Hope you have a good week and get a break from the rain yourself!

  5. I’m happy to read that Malibu Rising wasn’t about spoiled rich kids, that plot line is often overdone these days. Thanks for stopping by my blog and I’ve added you to my blog roll.

  6. It’s getting cold here even though we are a few weeks off the official start of winter. I declined Malibu Rising because I thought it sounded like it was centered on a bunch of entitled kids, I might have to rethink reading it now.

Wishing you a great reading week

  7. Can’t believe we had hail on Monday! Hail! It’s May FFS. Lol! I haven’t read the Strike books but I did watch and thoroughly enjoy the BBC adaptations.
